And today I’m much more like Kathleen Kelly seen here…. except that Tom Hanks most likely will not be stopping by Le Chateau to bring flowers. I will, however, use the same amount of tissues that she uses in this scene. I was starting to get sick before Thing-A-Thon and the all-nighter to “chaperone” the ol’ Junior-Senior. I suppose that I have done this to myself.

Last night I chaperoned our Junior/Senior. And then I was the lead chaperone for the “after party”. (That makes it sound far too much like the ol’ After the show is the after party…. It’s not like that. At. All.). And we returned around 5:30 this morning. I took at nap from 6 am until 8 am (and might still be angry that I was unable to sleep any later). I now find myself grading research papers while ingesting a steady flow of caffeine. I may regret these decisions later.

A Slower Speed of Light is a free little game from the MIT Game Lab. It visually demonstrates the effects of relativity. You move around in the first person picking up orbs which slow down the speed of light—the effect being that your normal walking speed inches ever closer to light speed. When you move faster—or light moves slower—colors begin to morph as the invisible shifts into the visible spectrum, until finally time and space themselves start bending. Very trippy, but based on real physics.
